  • that Lack of Sufficient Sleep (LOSS) is a root cause of illness and suffering.

  • to inspire and promote a healthier relationship with Sleep Wellness.

  • of organizations, professionals, and individuals committed to supporting Sleep Wellness.

According to the CDC, insufficient sleep is a public health epidemic.

Despite the alarming health risks emphasized over the past two decades and the recent rise in sleep hygiene awareness and products, millions of Americans still suffer from insufficient sleep.

In our 2025 State of Sleep Wellness Report, The Silent Epidemic: How Insufficient Sleep Endangers Millions of Lives in America, we are raising awareness of its direct link to a rise in chronic health conditions affecting approximately 300 million children and adults. This results in a greater burden on the healthcare system, with an estimated annual economic loss of $411 billion due to decreased productivity and increased healthcare expenses.

A leading cause of insufficient sleep is stress and trauma arising from adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).

The impact of ACEs on health, especially that of children, is staggering. The ACEs Aware Initiative to screen and treat children exposed to ACEs is gaining momentum in the medical community.

Addressing ACEs in children before they reach adulthood through wellness tools to resolve toxic stress and trauma requires intervention. The Sleep To Live Well Foundation supports the ACEs community’s deployment of the 7 Domains of Wellness by adding the 8th Domain of Sleep Wellness to enhance the effectiveness of all others.

Lack of Sufficient Sleep (LOSS) weakens the immune system, opening the door to illness.

With understanding and practices that change behaviors, Sleep Wellness is a natural choice.

Prioritizing Sleep Wellness will break the generational cycle of physical and mental illness.

Research shows that adults who have experienced ACEs often suffer from disrupted sleep patterns, contributing to their physical and mental health challenges. Disrupted sleep patterns in children affected by ACEs are known to have impaired cognitive development, emotional regulation, learning, and social interactions.

By understanding Sleep Wellness and how to attain it, we can take effective steps with approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) toward breaking the generational cycle of illness and alleviating the crisis of insufficient sleep in families and communities.

We must start by helping children build resiliency into adulthood.

Children are our highest priority for Sleep Wellness because they are the most vulnerable to the effects of insufficient sleep. When high levels of stress and trauma are added, they can experience severe long-term consequences for their health, well-being, and future success.

Sleep To Live Well is dedicated to helping children break generational cycles of physical and mental illness by unlocking their SuperPower of Sleep Wellness, which they need to build resilience that will last a lifetime.

Sleep To Live Well Foundation is making Sleep Wellness essential for children, their families and their healthcare providers.
